How we started
Stone Age Industries was founded in 1985. Ads were placed in Lapidary Journal and Rock and Gem to advertise our products. We are now online with our semi-precious gemstone rough, slabs, cabochons, fossils, fossil slabs, gifts, crystals, minerals, equipment and lapidary supplies. The equipment prices are listed as retail and are posted as advertised from those equipment manufacturers. We offer discounts on most of the equipment as a dealer for the equipment suppliers, some since 1985. Basic lapidary instruction is offered under the category, Lapidary Tips, a popular feature for those just getting started working with rocks, such as how to tumble, how to lap, and more. For payment of your order, we accept MasterCard and Visa, PayPal, money orders and checks if you reside in the U.S.A. or Canada. Checks will have to be cleared before your order can be shipped. Most other countries need to send a bank wire transfer for payment of the order. Please inquire by e-mail and the total amount with shipping and handling information will be sent via e-mail. When placing an order listed under Rough Rocks for Cabbing, a quantity of one (order), means one pound. (Please note, a few items are sold by the ounce. All materials are described by the pound or by the ounce on each web page.) If you want five pounds in one chunk, make a note on your order listed under NOTES/INSTRUCTIONS to clarify your order, or you may get several or more pieces. We'll do our best to come as close as possible to the rough size requested. If you would prefer smaller chunks for tumbling, make that notation on the same form. Some rough is only available in larger sizes, and you will have to break up the rough, or saw to fit your needs. If you are ordering slabs, a sample order of one (quantity) will give you a minimum of five square inches of the material which is sawed approximately 1/4" thick. An order of two (slabs), will be the equivalent of 10 square inches of that material, and the slabs may contain one with 7 square inches and one with 3 square inches, or possibly just one slab which contains 10 square inches. Pictures shown of most items, are a sample of the material, not necessarily the one you will receive, with a few exceptions.
