Crafton Hills rhodonite is sold in slab form with one slab containing at least five square inches. The best from this classic location. Collected over 40 years ago when the deposit was plentiful. The color of Crafton Hills rhodonite slabs will be light pink with black spider web patterns with possibly some grey areas with yellow garnet or white quartz. If a slab contains solid black areas, those square inches are not counted. The unfinished slab colors may appear dull at times due to weathering. The grinding and polishing procedure will bring back color in most areas. If you plan on saving your slabs for much later use, to protect the slabs from darkening or oxidizing, try wrapping your slabs in newspaper. Crafton Hills will takes a beautiful polish especially with diamond procedures. We tried flat lapping the rhodonite, but were unsuccessful using silicon carbide grit, etc. Stock 634s.
