The 30" Rociprolap is now being manufactured by the new owners, Covington Engineering Corp. Stock No. 5300RL, 110V, 60Hz. The Rociprolap lapping machine is a precision built machine designed to eliminate the manual work of lapping and polishing. The machine operates as its name implies, the lap plate revolves slowly (about 4 rpm), and reciprocates 575 times per minute simultaneously. It is quiet in operation. For this large machine, there is a possibility of needing to bolt the unit to the floor. Built to industrial standards, all cast iron and steel construction. (Please note: The stainless steel splash guard has been changed to plastic/Formica. This saved raising the price of the unit several hundred dollars. After making the change, it was found that the Formica worked better for several reasons: 1. It is easier to clean; 2. Has allowed to keep the price stable; 3. It can be rolled up and shipped in a small cardboard box saving the customer much in shipping.) The fine grain cast iron lap plate rides on ball bearings and is actuated by the crank shaft which has a stroke of 7/16" from a 1/2 horse power motor. The mirror polish achieved on your flats when properly lapped will be very pleasing. It will lap rock, wood, metal, glass, compressor valves, or any material which must be optically flat. Sold complete with splash guard, bumper ring, motor, complete set of instructions, polish pad now included, plus two sets of nylon ball bearing and one set of steel discs. NOTE: there is no longer a crating fee. For more tips on polishing gemstone flats, bookends and more, see Basic Lapping Procedures. Guaranteed for one year from date of purchase against any defects in material, excluding the nylon thrust bearings, steel discs, & leveling feet. The lap pan itself weighs approx. 143 pounds, and therefore, a two man operation to lift. This unit is shipped with a weight of approx. 410 pounds. FOB Redlands, CA.
