Rough: Thundereggs, Priday Ranch
Picture: Priday Ranch, thundereggs, OR

Thundereggs from Priday Ranch, Oregon are always fun to slab. (Stock 660) You are the first to see the interior of the thunderegg nodule that was formed millions of years ago. The Priday Ranch thundereggs were dug from a popular fee area called "the blue beds" at Priday Ranch in Oregon. A sample of several are shown to the left. The Priday Ranch thundereggs are complete nodules with agate or chalcedony centers. Even the very small thundereggs contain agate centers. The small one weighed about 5 oz. before being broken. Slab these in half and polish on your flat lap or belt sander. Slab the thundereggs also for making cabochons. Unique cabochons or freeform cabs can be made by showing the matrix and agate in your creations. Sizes of the rough thundereggs are from five ounces up to one pound plus each. (For tips on slabbing small round rocks check out Assorted lapidary tips, listed under our Lapidary Tips category.) The price for the Priday Ranch thundereggs is listed for one pound.
