This super grab bag pattern is very popular and easy to make in just a few minutes. (Please note the picture to the left is a sample of the bag made using the grab bag pattern instructions. You do not receive a free grab bag.) When you make one bag and find out how easy they are, you will probably end up making a dozen or more of the grab bags since they are great for kids and their rocks, marbles, or other small parts such as Barbie shoes, or make several for Dad and his fishing reels. Rock clubs usually sell out their grab bags when using this pattern for filling with rocks, fossils, tumbled stones and more. The pattern is for a bag with an approximate size of 6″ x 8″ when completed. You”ll need a piece of fabric such as cotton, denim, felt, etc. Cut your fabric about 13″ by 9″ in size. Fold the long side of the fabric over with the right sides together. The folded material should now measure about 9″ by 6 1/2″. Place a ribbon, cording or yarn as shown into the edge about two inches from the top. In one pass, sew together the sides and then the bottom of the bag with a 1/4 to 1/2″ edging. Turn the bag inside out. Your bag should now have an approximately 6″ opening and be 8″ deep! If you have some pinking shears, cut across the top for a nice edging. Get creative and glue fabric strips on the bag for the childs name or a design, or use white milk glue to write a name or design and sprinkle glitter on the glue. When the glue is dry, shake off the excess glitter. Have fun!
