The Tempskya, fossil fern/Knowltoni, is from Baker OR and has been dated as Cretaceous age. The rare fossilized fern rough has been sawed off from larger rough and will have a total weigh of 1.9 pounds. When slabbing rough a heel will be the first slab cut and end with another heel left over at the end of sawing. The color is mainly a brownish golden. There are excellent replacement characteristics in the rough, and you can see the cellular structure. The material will take a great polish and can be used for tumbling, and or making cabochons.
