The Carver’s Choice  by Diamond Pacific Tool Corp. (stock #660-CC) includes motor, coolant tank, lamp, Foredom bench lathe mounted on an 11.5″  x 14″ baseboard. This Gem Carver’s Work Station is an ideal unit to get started with carving. The chuck accommodates accessory shanks from 0- 5/32″ for fixed point carving. Note: The Flex-shaft is not included but available for purchase. ($48 – Foredom handpieces vary in cost from $60-$68 Convert your lathe, drill press or electric drill into a flex-shaft machine with a Flexade (R) flex-shaft.  You can carve the fixed-point method, or with a flexible shaft, either way with the same unit. You have a unique coolant/shield set-up that protects you from any coolant splash, but with no shields to interfere with a clear line of sight to the work piece.  The coolant tank has an adjustable valve. Motor is 1/6 HP with adjustable speeds from 500-7000 RPM, 115V, but also available in 220 V for shipping outside the USA.  Carvings in gemstone material are beautiful and rare to find.
